Aisles. Burdens. Presence.

Christ in the Everday

Supermarkets

He walks the supermarket aisles,
attentive, calm, and near;
he lingers where the weary pause
and hearts are bowed by care.

He waits beside the sliding doors
where burdens enter too;
he stands among forgotten ones
the world has failed to view.

He’s in the quiet counting out
of coins held carefully;
he’s in the worker’s gentle smile
offered so faithfully.

He’s in the fruit and daily bread,
the gifts of earth and field;
he’s in the hope that flickers still
when wounds have yet to heal.

He walks the supermarket aisles, j
ust there for those in need;
a presence in the common day,
a love that meets each need.

From the reflection

Supermarkets are places of provision—but also of quiet, unseen struggle.
