NeuroDivine

celebrating neurodivergence and spirituality

Spark. Fire. Blaze.

As a parish organist who grew up singing in a church choir, I have always been captivated by the power of music to lift the spirit, unite a community, and make the divine feel present in our everyday lives. Music in worship isn’t just decoration—it is prayer in sound, a living, breathing offering that moves both heart and soul.

This hymn, which I’m sharing here, celebrates that sacred gift. It honors the soaring voices of choirs, the hidden devotion of families and faithful volunteers, and the vibrant history of music that has threaded through our faith for centuries. Each stanza is a prayer, a celebration, and an invitation: to let our voices, and the music we love, become vessels of joy, courage, and divine presence.

Whether you are a singer, an organist, or simply someone who loves to listen, I hope this hymn inspires you to feel the heartbeat of praise and to join in the unending song of creation.

Suggested tune Ellacombe DCM or Kingsfold DCM

Christ, bless the gifts of music made,
The heartbeat of our praise;
For songs that leap like mountain streams
And blaze like summer days.
For organ winds that shake the stones,
For strings like starlit fire—
Let every note proclaim your joy
And lift our spirits higher.

For Celtic light that shimmers still
On wells where saints once prayed;
For holy circles, woven strong,
Where fear and night both fade.
For psalms that stride through storm and sun,
For chants like rising flame—
O Christ, whose glory crowns the dawn,
Set all our hearts aflame.

For singers young and elders wise,
For leaders bold and true;
For choirs whose harmonies ascend
Like skylarks in the blue.
For breath that meets the Spirit’s breath,
For courage when we tire—
O Spirit, whirl through every voice
And spark your sacred fire.

For families who bear the load,
Who wait through rain and cold;
For those whose quiet, faithful love
Outshines the tales we’re told.
For laughter shared on hurried nights,
For care that makes us strong—
Bless all whose unseen ministry
Sustains the gift of song.

Triune, encircling God of light,
Whose dance the cosmos knows—
Draw us into your living tide
Where joy unbounded flows.
Till earth and heaven join as one
And every voice is free,
Renew your Church in praise and song
Through all eternity.
