A hymn for Lauds for St Vincent of Saragossa — “At sunrise over Kildare’s fields” (Long Metre)

At sunrise over Kildare’s fields

1
At sunrise over Kildare’s fields,
Where Brigid’s flame begins the day,
Saint Vincent, servant of the poor,
Guide us to walk Christ’s morning way.

2
You bore God’s mercy to the weak,
A deacon steadfast, calm, and true;
Like oaks that greet the breaking light,
May we stand firm and faithful too.

3
From Saragossa’s rugged paths
Your martyr‑courage shone so clear;
Now Ireland’s plains receive your light
And bid our hearts rise free from fear.

4
As Dunamaise in golden dawn
Lifts earth and sky in quiet praise,
So lift our spirits, Lord of life,
To serve with joy through all our days.

5
O Christ, who crowned his faithful hope,
Awake our souls with holy fire;
That we may greet the coming day
And praise the Three whom we desire.

Celtic Doxology
All praise to Father, Spirit, Son—
The Three who kindle life and light;
The dance of love that shapes the dawn
Be ever blessed in morning bright.
