A Carol for Christmas Day
1.
In the hush of Christmas morning,
when the church bells call us near,
we gather round the story
that has shaped our every year.
At the table, in the chapel,
in the laughter shared and prayed,
Christ the Saviour stands among us—
Love incarnate, gently laid.
Refrain:
Glory sings the heavens above,
peace is born in straw and hay.
Christ is here in church and family—
God-with-us on Christmas Day.
2.
From the hearth the feast is rising,
from the font the grace is poured;
every blessing, every welcome
finds its source in Christ our Lord.
In the breaking and the sharing,
in the stories told anew,
God is weaving holy presence
through the lives of me and you.
Refrain
3.
So we walk into the wonder
with our hearts and hands made wide;
every table is an altar,
every meal a place to abide.
May our homes be warm with mercy,
may our church be bright with praise,
for the Saviour dwells among us—
Light and Love for all our days.
Refrain
