Restore. Belong. Endure.

Lantern by the Canal – A single lantern glowing at dusk beside still water, symbolizing God’s shining face restoring hope and guiding the dispersed community.

Psalm 80 | Isaiah 26:1-13 | Matthew 12:22-37 | RB Chapter 51 | CSB Rule Day 1

Restore us, O God of hosts; let Your face shine, that we may be saved.

The psalmist’s cry becomes our own: a yearning for light in the shadowed places, a plea for renewal where weariness has taken root.

Isaiah sings of a city whose walls are salvation, whose gates open wide to those who keep faith. Peace is not the absence of struggle, but the song of trust carried through the night.

Christ heals the broken and silences the accuser. He warns that careless words reveal divided hearts, but truthful speech bears fruit that endures. A house united in mercy will not fall.

The Rule reminds us: even when sent out, the brother remains bound to the rhythm of community. Permission, obedience, belonging— these are not chains, but threads of fidelity that hold us together when distance stretches.

And the dispersed Community, uncloistered yet professed, echoes the same truth: whether lay or ordained, single or married, we are gathered by promise, woven into one fabric of prayer and discipline.

On this Tuesday, free from the weight of treatment, the body breathes easier, yet the call remains the same: to walk in justice, to speak with care, to live as those restored by God’s shining face.

So let us be carried by the rhythm of belonging. Let us be bound by mercy and truth. Let us be restored, that our words, our lives, our community may be a strong city, a house that stands, a song of peace in the night.
